Volunteer with Open Hand, and you just might be surprised at how good it will make you feel. Whether you have a little time to spend in the kitchen, or you want to help out during Dining Out for Life 2014, we can always use a hand. Or several. In fact, if you and a group from your workplace, school or church want to pitch in...the more the merrier! We'll do whatever we can to match your skills to the tasks that interest you the most, and we guarantee to make it an experience that'll nourish your soul.

Dining Out for Life Restaurant Ambassadors

Do you have a favorite restaurant where everyone knows your name? Would you like to spend time there while making a positive impact on your community? Then being a Dining Out for Life Ambassador is for you!

As an ambassador, you'll work with the DOFL Team (and other Volunteers) to help ensure that participating restaurants have our complete support before, during and immediately after the event.

You'll be available to answer any questions diners may have about the event itself or the mission of Open Hand. You'll work closely with the restaurant management and staff to ensure that they are prepared for this great event. Donation/raffle envelopes will be made available for all Dining Out for Life participants and anyone who'd like to make a donation, and you'll collect them after they've been completed. We'll have a couple of orientation sessions with all Ambassadors before the event to equip you with the information you'll need to make sure you're comfortable.

Requirements? Attend one of the Ambassador orientation sessions, spend some time getting to know the manager/staff of the restaurant you select, gain a basic understanding of the work of Open Hand, and spread the joy of giving back the day of Dining Out for Life!

Ambassador Orientation Sessions
The orientation sessions are typically scheduled to begin about a month or so before the event, and you're only required to attend one of them. Once we have the sessions scheduled, we will notify those who have registered. Dining Out For Life Hosts

Your primary responsibility is to invite your friends, family and co-workers to dine with you at your selected restaurant on April 24th. Sounds fun, doesn't it? But wait, there’s more. Sign up with the volunteer link above and our DOFL team will provide you with online materials to invite your friends and family to join you. In the past, we've had folks who've gathered together groups of 10, 20...up to 100 people to have a great night out in support of a wonderful cause. We want to have hosts in all of our DOFL restaurants, so please sign up today!

If you really want to take it up a notch, here are a few ideas:
      - Administrative Professional Appreciation Lunch (April 24th is the big day!)
      - Team-building lunch for co-workers
      - Girls/Guys night out
      - Theme party (in the past, folks have hosted Broadway parties, fashion shows, etc.)

Get creative...and most of all, have fun!!

Event Support

There is a lot of work done prior to the day of the event, and we could sure use your help! We need folks to work with DOFL Ambassadors, assist photographers and restaurants, and help "market" Dining Out for Life and our participating restaurants in the community. Or you may simply choose to dine out with a group of friends and be on hand if the Ambassador needs your assistance. Either way, it's all about having fun for a great cause.

Requirements? Nothing more than a great attitude, and a basic understanding of the event and the work of Open Hand!
